Program Structure

The rotation schedule for the 12-month PGY1 Residency Program includes:

  • Orientation (4 week duration)
  • Five Required Rotations (4 week duration each)
  • Elective Rotations (24 weeks)
  • Research Block (2 week duration)
  • ASHP Mid-Year Clinical Meeting (1 week)
  • Year End Wrap-Up Block (1 week)

* Pediatrics, Psychiatry and Toxicology are potential electives at other local healthcare facilities based on availability. The resident can take no more than one rotation outside the health system. In addition, some rotations may be taken at other St. Vincent’s HealthCare facilities. However, no more than 3 months can be taken at sites other than St. Vincent’s Riverside.

**Most learning experiences may be personalized for a two to six week rotation. The number and length of electives can be varied as part of the residency development plan for each resident. The total number of elective time is 24 weeks. The resident may choose to repeat any rotation once.
